Our driest and best performing firewood. Our kiln dried firewood is dried down to a 10% moisture content. This extremely low moisture content results in firewood that is low smoke, quick to light, and high in heat output. A predictable and efficient product that is great for fireplaces, fire pits, wood stoves, smokers, and backyard campfires.
The low moisture content of our kiln dried firewood means this wood will have the highest BTU’s, will be easy to light, and will burn bright and hot.
We supply our top-selling kiln dried firewood to many of the major chain stores throughout the Mid Atlantic and Northeast regions.
We offer this product in loose bulk form, 1/3 cord crates, and shrink-wrapped .75 ft3 bundles. This firewood is exclusively composed of maple and oak hardwoods.
SEASONED FIREWOOD
An economical ready-to-burn choice for occasional recreational firewood users.
Seasoned firewood typically refers to wood that has been air dried for at least a year or until an external moisture content of 20% is reached. Our seasoned firewood is dried in our kilns to a moisture content of 20% or less, allowing us to provide a much more consistent and economical ready-to-burn firewood.
While not as dry as kiln-dried firewood, seasoned wood can be a satisfactory choice for occasional recreational use in backyard fire pits and home fireplaces.
Seasoned wood is an industry term that is very loosely interpreted by many firewood producers. According to experts, Seasoned wood should have a moisture content of 20% or less, but many producers selling firewood as “seasoned” do not meet the 20% moisture standard. It takes approximately 9-12 months for firewood to sit outdoors and properly season on the Eastern Shore, with end results varying significantly due to rainfall, stack density, and other uncontrolled factors.
With the use of our kilns, we are able to efficiently produce seasoned wood at a consistent 20% moisture content in a much faster timeframe than traditional seasoning.
This firewood is mainly a mix of oak and maple with some other hardwoods occasionally mixed in.
GREEN FIREWOOD
For those who want to season their own firewood.
This fresh cut firewood has not been seasoned or dried and may contain as high as 50% moisture content. While not suitable for burning immediately, this product is an economical choice for customers that wish to season their own firewood for 9 -12 months.
Our green firewood is straight off the processors. We do not dry this firewood. At a natural moisture content of 50%, green wood is difficult to light and produces an excess of smoke, making it a poor choice for immediate use. However, for those who wish to season their own firewood, this product is split and ready to be set outside to season for 9 months to a year or longer.
While burning of green wood is possible, it is not recommended unless in an outdoor setting. This is because the excess smoke output is known to cause unsafe creosote buildup in chimneys and wood stoves, potentially leading to chimney fires.
This wood is mainly a mix of oak and maple with some other hardwoods occasionally mixed in.
Pickup & Delivery
Pick up is available at our Frankford, DE and Salisbury, MD locations. Delivery is available within 100 miles of either location in stacked 1/3rd cord crates or loose bulk quantities.
Bulk delivery
Our bulk deliveries arrive at your location in a self-unloading truck and are dumped in your desired location (restrictions may apply for requests to drive off of paved areas). Delivery charges vary based on distance and order quantity. Our home-delivery trucks can deliver up to 4 cords of loose wood.
1/3 cord crates: delivered and stacked
Convenient, clean, and easy to set, our pre-stacked 1/3 cord crate deliveries are unloaded with our pallet jack and set in your desired location. We can even set crates inside of garages, sheds, and other covered areas given the driving surface is firm enough to support the pallet jack and the area leaves enough room to maneuver the crate.
